First Nations Consultation & Engagement
Management and staff at Polar Medical are aware of and respect the First Nations whom territories that we perform services on. Polar Medical would like to have a strong relationship with the communities that they work in and give back in a meaningful way when possible.
Every project that we bid on we try to be cognoscente of the First Nation whom Traditional Territory we are hoping to work on. When we are in the planning process that includes staffing logistics such as hiring local labour we try to make sure we include the First Nation labour pool. We have made it part of our procedures of bidding to make sure that before we move forward with a bid we consult the respective First Nation whom Territory will be on, and make leadership aware of our intentions within the territory on perspective industrial projects.
As part of giving back, Polar Medical offers the following to the First Nations communities that we work in:
- Bursaries for College and University Programs.
- Part time and full time positions to candidates with interest in the First Aid service industry.
- Job Shadowing to help people build experience in the field.
- Assist in building professional development plans for community members who aspire to work in the First Aid service industry.
- Per diems to go back to Community as lump sum payments.
These opportunities that Polar Medical offers are dependent on size of project, duration of contract and the suitability and or interest of community members to access work opportunities.
